Five charged in Tuesday abduction

Five people have been arrested in connection with the reported abduction of a 27-year-old Washington C.H. woman on Tuesday morning.

According to the person who reported the abduction to police, at around 4 a.m. Brittney C. Bennett was pulled out of a car by her throat and taken into a house. “The abduction started at 812 Delaware Street (the Heidler Apartment complex) and went to the 600 block of Delaware Street,” said Washington C.H. Police Chief Brian Hottinger.

Hottinger said the matter was resolved at around 7 a.m. Tuesday and that Bennett is safe.

Later Tuesday afternoon, five people were arrested in connection to the incident: Jerome Pettiford and Randy Nichols were charged with abduction, and Regina Hughes, Michael Stolzenburg, and Kelly J. Herron were charged with obstructing official business. All five were being held in the Fayette County Jail Tuesday evening.

The case is still under investigation.
