What’s happening at Carnegie Library?

By Sarah Nichols - Carnegie Public Library

There is something for everyone at Carnegie Library! On Thursday, Nov. 5, at 4 p.m. the library is offering “Color Therapy for Adults.” This popular trend is based on the belief that coloring is a great way for grown-ups to decompress. Call today and register, leave the rest to us!

On Nov. 20 at 4 p.m., the Carnegie Book Club will host a Harper Lee Discussion. We will talk about Lee’s recent release, her classic work, To Kill a Mockingbird, as well as her life and times. Previous attendees are welcome once again as we further explore the themes in Lee’s work, and talk about both the acclaim and criticism surrounding the publication of Go Set a Watchman. In 2016, the Library Book Club will focus on great works of modern literature. The group will meet six times throughout the year and is intended for both lifelong fans and first-time readers! Join us!

The Ohio Digital Library is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week! You can borrow free eBooks and audiobooks for your Kindle, NOOK, iPad, iPhone, Android or other device with just your library card! Need help? Come to one of our e-Book Drop-in sessions! Bring your device and library card, we will get you started! Sessions are from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., on Wednesdays through October.

For kids: Make it & Take it! On Thursday, Oct. 22, at 4:30 p.m. children in grades 1 and up can join us to make a Halloween Mask! Bring your imagination to create your own spooktacular disguise! At 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays in October, children in grades 1 and up can join us for “Snack Fun” with Sarah Sowell from the OSU Extension office. Play games and quizzes and help Sarah make and eat fun and healthy snacks! As always, bring your little ones to the library’s weekly storytimes for books, stories, crafts, and play! Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., is Preschool Storytime for children 4 – 6 years old and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., is Books & Blocks for children 1 – 3 years old. Siblings are welcome at either session.

In Jeffersonville: Make it & Take it! On Monday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m., children ages 5 and up can join us to decorate a spooky cookie! Registration is required. Every Tuesday at 11 a.m., come listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, socialize with other little friends at Toddler Time. Each week is a new theme! On Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 4 p.m. creative folks can join the Halloween Craft Workshop where crafters will paint a Halloween themed magnet. This is for all ages; registration is required. Thursday, Oct. 22nd at 4 p.m. is the October meeting of the Monthly Knit & Crochet Club! Those attending make and donate caps for newborn babies and those with cancer.
