The libraries in both Washington Court House and Jeffersonville will be closed Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4, for Independence Day! Be sure to check out plenty of books and movies for your long weekend.

Not sure what to read next? Stop by and see our display of Page-Turners for quick reads that feature compelling twists and fast-paced plots. If you still haven’t read Gone Girl or Dark Places by Gillian Flynn, or any of Liane Moriarty’s titles, you are missing out! For family fun, check out or download the audio version of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling or the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Great audiobooks can make a family road trip or evening of s’mores that much better.

Next week, the library will host Mindfulness for Kids and a Minecraft Demo. The Children’s Department is now signing up participants for July and August programs like: Paper Weapons, Animation for Kids, Euchre, “Who Do You Think You Are?”, Pop-Art Collage, and Archeology U! For information about any of these programs, call today!

Adults: On Saturday, July 11, paranormal author Tracee Ford will visit the library to promote and sell copies of her books. From the author’s website: “Ford is an award-winning novelist. She is a member of the Paranormal Romance Guild and her second novel, IDOLUM: Visions of the Undone, was nominated by the PRG for best paranormal romantic suspense novel of 2013, securing and winning second place. Her novel, THE FINE LINE, won a Reader’s Choice Award in 2013 as well.” Fans of Paranormal Romance should check this out!

The Library Book Club will meet to discuss To Kill a Mockingbird on Friday, July 31, at 4 p.m. Whether you are reading it for the first time or the fifth time, we hope that you will join us. All ages are welcome.

The Annual Book Sale with AAUW is fast approaching! The library welcomes donations for this sale but prefers, because of space limitations, that items be delivered as close to the sale as possible. Proceeds from the sale help fund scholarships offered by AAUW and will become part of the library’s general fund to be used for building maintenance, collection development, and technology. This year’s sale will begin with a preview on Wednesday, July 29 at 3 p.m. Entrance for the preview sale is $2. The sale continues during normal library hours on Thursday, July 30, and Friday, July 31, and ends on Saturday, August 1, with the dollar-a-bag sale from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday will also feature My Sister’s House of Fayette County selling pop, hot dogs, and other goodies!

In Jeffersonville: Tuesday is Toddler Time! At 11 a.m. each Tuesday, come listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, and socialize with other little friends. Each week is a new theme: Independence Day will be featured on Tuesday, June 30. Then, on Wednesday, July 1 join in on the fun with Miss Linda as she leads a Mini Pillow Craft workshop entitled “Blowing in the Wind.”
