There is a still lot of fun to be had with the Summer Reading Program! Parents and children are invited to the library to sign up, and to register for fun events scheduled throughout the summer!

Monday, July 11 is full of Lego activities! At 11 a.m. children in grades 3-6 are invited to “Lego Build a Car!” Engineer and build self-powered cars that can drive and race! Then, at 2 p.m, children in grades 1-3 are invited to “Lego Build a Tower!” The Challenge is Simple: How high can you stack Legos? We will use engineering principles to see who can construct the largest and most stable buildings.

Then, on Tuesday, July 12 at 3 p.m. all ages are invited to “ABC Yoga.” Get down with the “D” for Dogs and stand tall with the “T” for Tree in ABC Yoga! Join Noel in stretching, bending, and twisting our bodies into yoga poses that go along with the alphabet. Please wear comfortable clothing – no jeans!

On Saturday, July 16 at 11 a.m., the library will host a “Creepy Lab!” Let’s make disgusting and revolting things in our “Creepy Lab”, squeamish lab partners need not apply! Children in grades 2 and up are welcome! To find out more about “Fayette Field Trips” and all of our summer offerings, pick up a copy of our summer newsletter, or check out our website today! And remember, storytime is back all summer long! Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., is Preschool Storytime for children 4 – 6 years old and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., is Books & Blocks for children 1 – 3 years old. Siblings are welcome at either session.

Adults and Teens, Summer Reading Program is for you too! Stop in the library and learn more about our weekly prize drawings for our dedicated Adult & Teen readers. Not sure what to read? Check out our displays of brain-stretching books and new releases, or browse the stacks for a forgotten favorite. You never know what you might find! Ask about the Ohio Digital Library or the new library BookMyne App, designed to make book browsing fun and convenient!

Coming up on Saturday, July 16 at 10 a.m., the Carnegie Book Club will meet to discuss Mark Twain’s classic, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Whether you are reading it for the first time, or the fifth, join us by the fireplace for discussion.

Teens, be sure to check out the new programs for you this summer: On Friday, July 29, at 3 p.m., tweens and teens are invited to ‘Games Day” at the library! We have a wide assortment, but feel free to bring your favorite and teach us to play too!

In Jeffersonville: Every Tuesday at 11 a.m., come listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, and socialize with other little friends at Toddler Time. Each week is a new theme! Tuesday, July 12 with “Let’s Play!” On Wednesday, July 13 at 11 a.m., all ages are invited to make “Sand Art.” Come create your own bottled “Sand Art,” just like they do at the fair! Then, on Thursday, July 14 all ages are invited to “All We Need are Trees.” Get ready for some tree activities with Brigitte Hisey of Fayette Soil and Water Conservation District. We will learn a lot of tree facts, and also make a craft to take home!
