Shrine invites vets to free dinner

The Washington Shrine Club and American Legion Post 25 are once again reminding service men and women to attend a free dinner for them on Veterans Day this Friday.

The sponsoring groups are bringing this meal to veterans to salute all of those who have served in one of the nation’s military branches. The dinner will be held on Friday at the American Legion Post 25, located at 1240 US Route 22. Dinner will be served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and there will be absolutely no charge for veterans. All non-veterans can purchase a meal for $7.

“We encourage all veterans to join us and we thank them for their service to our country,” Brian Tabit, president of the Washington Shrine Club, said. “This is just a small token of appreciation for what they have done. It is just a little something that we can do to thank these veterans. Over the last year, I have traveled quite a bit and have paid for the meals of numerous service men because it goes to show them that we do appreciate their sacrifice. Giving them a meal is just a great way to show them that appreciation.”

The event will feature guest Ed Helt, the speaker at the past three dinners, who will once again speak at the conclusion of the dinner at 6:30 p.m. For more information about the event, contact the American Legion at (740) 335-4990.
