The first meeting of 4-H Family & Consumer Science Board was held at the OSU Extension office on Feb. 15, 2017. The purpose of the board is to encourage interest in FCS 4-H projects, promote FCS 4-H projects and to help those taking FCS 4-H projects improve their skills.

On Dec. 28, 2017, the board hosted a 4-H Sewing camp. Three new sewers came to learn about the sewing machine and made a skirt. Each participant was encouraged to sign up for the “Sew Fun” project in 2017.

Officers were elected and are as follows: president -Victoria Schappacher; vice president – Trevor Minyo; secretary –Eva Smalley and news reporter – Hidy Kirkpatrick.

The group discussed possible themes for the 2017 Fayette County Jr. Fair. The winning suggestion was for “Lights, Camera, Action at the 2017 Fayette County Jr. Fair.” This will be given to the Jr. Fair Board and they will decide on a definite theme.

Future activities will include a Cooking and Sewing Fun Night on March 3, 2017.

We will have those coming for the cooking part to the fun night make some food out of the 4-H books. Those sewing will make a pillow and learn to use the sewing machine.

The next meeting will be March 3, 2017 at 5 p.m.
