The community is invited to join Fayette County Memorial Hospital (FCMH) today in welcoming the upcoming football season.

The initial kick-off event that celebrated the partnership between Fayette County Memorial Hospital and the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center was held in February. This event helped with continuing to bring great medical practice to the community. Building on that relationship, the hospital will be holding a pep rally tonight.

“This night will have many different aspects to help educate and show the community about this relationship with OSU,” Chelsie Hornsby, director of marketing and foundation at FCMH, said. “First off, this event will help us to go over, highlight and discuss the affiliation with OSU. We will also be introducing a few new physicians during the event as well as listen to a guest speaker.”

The evening will begin with dinner provided by FCMH for local high school football teams, cheerleading squads and marching bands. The evening will continue with a light meal for community residents who join the event, and then Miami Trace head football coach Steve Bartlett and Washington C.H. head football coach Corey Dye will speak on their upcoming seasons.

Next, guest speaker Ryan Miller, a former OSU football player, will talk about his experience as a Buckeye, the importance of the sports medicine team and the impact it had on his game. He is also expected to encourage the students to be smart about how they take care of themselves. He will be signing autographs after the event.

“One of the important points of the evening will be introducing four new physicians from OSU that will be available five days a week here at Fayette Memorial,” Hornsby said. “One of the physicians, Mark Conroy, will speak on hydration during the event. The community is invited to come and learn about the affiliation with OSU and enjoy a fun evening.”

The four physicians that will join FCMH are: Jonathon Barlow, MD, Mark Conroy, MD, Ryan Harrison, MD and W. Kelton Vasileff, MD. Each will bring their own specialization to FCMH in sports medicine to help better suit the community.

Additionally, the Buckeye Brass band will play. The event will be held under the white tent between the medical arts buildings on the Fayette County Memorial Hospital campus area. Any questions can be directed to Hornsby at (740) 333-2710.
