Jeffersonville Branch Library held its annual Summer Reading Program Celebration at the Jeffersonville United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 30.

Awards, certificates, prizes and pizza were given to all those in attendance. Special thanks to Hannah Wilburn and Juanita McKenzie for volunteering to help during the party.

The library was the place to be during the summer with “Spotlight on Community Hero” programs, featuring teachers, master gardeners, humane agents, extension agents, nurses, a deaf community interpreter, a Fayette Soil and Water Naturalist Educator, a fire chief and the sheriff, as well as crafts, bingo, story hour and super hero camp.

Gracie Truman won the prize for reading the most books in the preschool division with a whopping 312 books read while the second place winner, Gabriella Webb, read 202 books over the summer. Each girl was given an “Every Hero Has a Story” backpack filled with goodies.

There was a tie in the adult division for the most books read. Juanita McKenzie and Lisa Smith both read 23 books over the course of the summer.
