Veterans’ benefits workshop planned for Sept. 10

Military Veterans Resource Center will be hosting a veterans benefits workshop on Thursday, Sept. 10. It will teach veterans about the resources they can access in southern Ohio.

Any veteran, current military service member, or spouse in need of assistance is encouraged to attend the workshop. It will take place at the Red Cross’s Chillicothe office, located at 181 N. Bridge St. and will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with lunch included.

“Veterans in need of assistance don’t always know where to go for help. This workshop will teach veterans about the resources available in their communities and give them the chance to speak with a representative at the workshop,” said MVRC Executive Director Len Proper.

This workshop will cover topics such as how to access your service records, where to go for housing and food assistance, and how to apply for benefits. Community organizations from Ross County and surrounding counties will be attending, including the Red Cross, Lutheran Social Services, the Ohio National Guard Family Readiness and Warrior Support Program, and county Veterans Service Commissions.

Participants must pre-register by contacting Dennis Lambert at 740-571-4555 or [email protected].

Military Veterans Resource Center’s mission is to help veterans who served honorably become self-reliant in managing career and life decisions. MVRC is based in Columbus and operates five centers throughout Ohio. For additional information, please visit www.milvetsrc.org.
