The Fayette County Agricultural Society will be holding a fundraising raffle this Saturday to continue renovations on the county fairgrounds.

The Mahan Building on the fairgrounds will open at 6 p.m. Rock N’ Country will begin entertaining guests at 7 and will continue until 11 p.m. During the event, patrons can enjoy some food and a cash bar will be available. Admission is free to the event with the purchase of a ticket, or for the admission price of $10 per person to listen to the band.

“We have been trying our best to fix up the fairgrounds and have made some progress,” Faith Cottrill, Senior Fair Board secretary, said. “You must be 18 or older to purchase a ticket and you do not need to be present to win. Tickets will be available the evening of the drawing.”

Tickets are $100 and only 1,000 will be sold. They can be purchased from fair board directors, from the fair office, from Doug Marine Motors or by calling the fair office at (740) 335-5856.

The top prize for the raffle is a new 2015 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4×4 valued at $43,000 (cash prize option: $25,000), second prize is a new John Deere Gator valued at $6,500 (cash option: $5,000), third prize is a six by 10 aluminum trailer with drop gate valued at $2,200 (cash option: $1,500), and five $1,000 cash prizes will also be awarded. All net proceeds will benefit the building improvement fund for the fairgrounds.

“We are planning to use some of the future money to renovate the Breezeway, which is between the Mahan and Fine Arts buildings, as this is the only part of the building that has not been redone,” Cottrill said. “We really appreciate Rock-N-Country coming to entertain the crowds this Saturday. We also appreciate the community for continuing to support the fairgrounds. Without them we couldn’t do anything. We really need the continued support to make progress and we hope the community can continue to help.”
