Carriage Court Assisted Living Center, at 500 N. Glenn Ave. in Washington C.H., recently revealed its new additions and remodel at the facility’s open house.

After the remodel, the facility now boasts a total of 47 units which are a combination of the 32 unit assisted living wing and the 15 unit memory care wing.

“We have been around for nearly 20 years now and this is the second expansion we have had in that time,” Beth McCane, director of sales and marketing, said during an interview Tuesday. “We have a wonderful staff with a lot of them that have been here for 10 years or more, so they have been a part of all of the change and growth.

Among the remodel are an expanded dining area and bistro for assisted living clients, new rooms complete with kitchenette, bath and closet space, and outside courtyard for memory care clients.

“One of our specialties is in memory care and our staff is trained specifically for Alzheimer’s and dementia care,” McCane said. “Something a lot of people in the community might not realize we offer is the equivalent of an adult daycare, what we call our Day Services program. It is offered as part of our memory care treatment and is available seven days a week.”

During the event, a ribbon cutting was held by the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce to acknowledge the remodel and to give other chamber members the opportunity to come and check out the facility for themselves.

“The open house had a pretty good turnout,” McCane said. “We had visitors from the hospital, the skilled nursing facilities, Hospice agencies and of course the chamber members. Some visitors from other Carriage Court facilities also stopped by. We were also pleased to have had Country Cakes and Bakes come do all of our desserts for us and Brad Smith provided the entertainment. It seemed very successful and we were very pleased.”

McCane said she invites anyone who was unable to attend the open house to stop in for a visit to see the services and amenities the facility has to offer.

“It was great to see the support from other local businesses,” McCane said. “They were so supportive and excited. Several of them had never been into one of our facilities and said they were very impressed. It was wonderful to have their support.”
