Fish & Game Association invites shooters

The Fayette County Fish & Game Association has recognized that the local public needs a place where they can go shoot and target practice.

Currently the nearest public range is located at the Deer Creek Wildlife Area in the extreme northeast part of the county on Cook-Yankeetown Road. That facility is also closed each Monday and Tuesday. To help satisfy the demand, the board of directors and our range officers have setup Tuesdays (weather permitting) starting with Dec. 22 through the end of March 2016 between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon.

Starting in April, Tuesdays and Thursdays, with shooting hours changing to 4 to 8 p.m. until further notice for open shooting for members and the public.

A special date of Dec. 26 has been setup to shoot those new toys received on Christmas. Those hours are 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Shooters must furnish their own paper targets. No cans, glass or metal targets may be used. Target holders are available (bring cardboard for backing and stapler). A $5 shooters fee will be charged. Fish & Game members will pay a discounted fee of $2. This fee will help offset maintenance and upkeep expenses for the facilities.

The facility is located at 1236 Robinson Road and the range is located on the back lane behind the lodge.
