Fayette County 4-H Week will be held Feb. 8-13 and there are lots of activities planned for our youth, their parents, volunteers, as well as the rest of the community, to learn more about 4-H.

Club Window Decorating Contest

The theme for this year’s 4-H Week is “4-H Superheroes” and clubs will be decorating the windows of local businesses to promote 4-H and their heroes within the organization. Decorated windows will be entered into a competition and the winners will be announced at the 4-H Open House.

4-H Open House

There will be an open house for 4-H promotion on Tuesday, Feb. 9 from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Mahan Building on the fairgrounds. Current 4-H members will display their projects from last year to share with others. Some 4-H clubs have also been asked set up displays, highlighting activities and opportunities available to potential members. If you want to learn more about all that 4-H has to offer, this isn’t an event that you want to miss!

Essay Contest

Who is your 4-H Superhero? 4-H members are encouraged to write an essay describing their hero in 4-H and submit it to Extension Office by Friday, Feb. 5. The contest will be broken into three age divisions (third-fifth graders, sixth-eighth, and ninth-12th). Submissions are to be no more than two pages long. Winners will receive a prize and will be published in the Record-Herald during 4-H Week. Pictures may also be submitted and could be published in the paper, as well.

Social Media Challenge

Each day we will have a challenge on social media for 4-H members, parents, and/or volunteers to post using the hashtag #FayCo4H. Every day will have a different theme and up to five photos/posts will be randomly selected and highlighted on the county 4-H social media accounts. Participants should follow the Fayette County accounts (Facebook – Fayette County Ohio 4-H, Twitter – @fayetteco4h, and Instagram – @fayettecounty4h) and post a photo and description for each topic and include the hashtag #FayCo4H for a chance for their post to be featured.

Monday: Make a Difference Monday (Post how you or your club has made a difference, no matter how big or small!)

Tuesday: Teamwork Tuesday (Post a time you worked as a team through 4-H)

Wednesday: Hard Work Wednesday (Post how your hard work in 4-H has paid off)

Thursday: 4-H Throwback Thursday (Post a 4-H memory)

Friday: 4-H Fun Friday (Post how you have fun in 4-H)

Saturday: 4-H Superhero Saturday (Post about your 4-H hero)

Daily 4-H Trivia

Each day we will post a 4-H trivia question on the Facebook page. The first person to answer correctly will win a 4-H prize!

We are very excited about these events and hope you are, as well! If you have further questions, please email me at [email protected] or call the office at 740-335-1150.
