Representatives from YouthBuild U.S.A. and Ohio Means Jobs were the guests of the Fayette County Retired Teachers Association at their bi-monthly meeting on Feb. 4.

Rhonda Page with Ohio Means Jobs and Stacey Johnson of YouthBuild U.S.A. both gave overviews of the services their organizations supply. Their primary focus is young adults between ages 18 and 24 who have been school dropouts or homeless.

They help these individuals gain GEDs, develop job skills and work at part-time jobs. Ultimately they phase them into full-time jobs, college admission or the military.

A potential change in the FCRTA bylaws regarding the annual scholarship donation was discussed. Members should look for details in the upcoming newsletter.

March 3 has been reserved as the date for FCRTA members to attend the annual Lenten luncheon held at Grace United Methodist Church. A table will be reserved for members. You must call the church to make a reservation.

The 2016 ORTA spring conference will be held Tuesday, April 12 in Xenia. Any members wishing to attend should contact Norma Kirby.

The next meeting is Thursday, April 7 with social hour at 11 a.m. and lunch served at 12 p.m.
