The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce paid a visit to Jim Van Dyke’s Automotive & Tire Center to commemorate its 15th anniversary in business.

The family owned and operated business does service and repair on all makes and models of automobiles, everything from an oil change to an engine replacement.

The business began at 1157 Columbus Ave. in Washington C.H., behind Save a Lot, on Feb. 12, 2001, with owner Jim Van Dyke and son, Raymond Van Dyke, the only technicians. Two additional technicians were quickly added to meet customer demand. The business outgrew the building and parking lot so land was purchased at our current location, 2247 US Highway 22, and a new seven bay building was built.

Today there are five technicians, which include Jim and Raymond, a service writer, and Merleen Van Dyke is the office manager.

“Our goal is to continue to grow and stay up with the latest automotive technology. We plan on passing the business on to our son, Raymond, someday and hope that some of our grandchildren will choose to work with us,” said Jim and Merleen Van Dyke. “We are the only ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Blue Seal shop and the only AAA approved shop around. We have three ASE Master Technicians and all other employees are ASE certified. We provide shuttle service as well as pick-up and delivery.”
