A series of events has been scheduled this weekend to supplement the Fire In The Sky and as a celebration of Independence Day.
Beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, The Club at Quail Run, on State Route 41, will hold the “Party on the Green.” Smokin’ Joes (Joe Garland) will be serving pulled pork, ribs, brisket, wings, hamburgers and hot dogs. Families are welcome to join and kids’ activities will be available. At 8 p.m. live music by Johnny Lawless will entertain the crowd. For more information call (740) 335-3490.
Heritage Memorial Church, at 1867 Old U.S. 35, has invited the community to their Independence Day celebration. Dinner at the shelter house begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday and everyone is encouraged to bring a covered dish and dessert to share. Meat, drinks and table service will be provided. They also advise people to bring a lawn chair and stay with them to enjoy the fireworks.
Four Seasons of Washington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will be holding its “Red, White and Blue Bash” at 6 p.m. at 201 Courthouse Parkway. The evening will include a BBQ meal for $3.50, D.J. Charlie McCoy entertaining the crowds, a bounce house, a rock-climbing wall, face painting, a zipline and carnival games. Additionally, cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones will be available. The staff at Four Seasons invites the community to come and enjoy the fireworks with them “from the best view in town.”
Special guest MC “Goat” from Full Throttle Saloon will entertain patrons at the “Boogie on the Blacktop” Friday at the American Legion Post 25 on U.S. 22 beginning at 6 p.m. During the event, music will be performed live from Cactus and the Lima Company Eyes of Freedom Memorial will be available for viewing.
The Fire in the Sky display will begin once the sun has set on July 3 from the Fayette County Fairgrounds.
Saturday morning, the farmers market will be having a July 4 celebration. Streetside 62 will be at the Market preparing and serving up pork tacos, chicken tacos, salsa and chips, confetti slaw and lemon shakeups (with a large portion of the ingredients being sourced from our vendors), serving from 10 a.m. to noon. Alpaca Kingdom Acres (Hank White) will have live alpacas at the Market, weather permitting, and the Horse Show cancer support group “Are you tough enough to wear pink?” will have on display (for raffle) the two-horse trailer and zero-turn mower being offered this year in their fund raising campaign.
Jeffersonville will hold its fireworks display on Saturday, July 4 after sunset from the baseball fields.
