The 26th-annual Community Health Fair Family Fun Day will take place on Saturday, April 30, and the community is encouraged to attend.
The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grace Community Church, located at 525 Glenn Ave. in Washington C.H., where it has been held the last few years. Past attendance figures have ranged from 1,700 to 2,000 community members who participate in the free and reduced price health screenings and family fun events.
The planning committee has been meeting to put together the health fair and promises to deliver new activities for kids of all ages. According to committee members, this is a can’t-miss event, as they are in full preparation to make this year of the health fair the best one yet.
“This is a great, fun day the family can come out to and spend time with many health wise organizations from within the community,” Chelsie Hornsby, director of business development with the Fayette County Memorial Hospital, said during an interview Tuesday. “We really want to encourage the public to join us. There will be health screening for free and reduced prices, as well as many other organizations offering a ton of healthy advice. We will also be having an alpaca and miniature pony for children to enjoy and a rock wall to climb.”
The Columbus Zoo will once again be joining the event and in the past, organizations such as the Relay For Life, Hospice of Fayette County, LIFE Pregnancy Center, Fayette County Memorial Hospital and many others have joined in to help bring more information to the community.
“We want to thank all of the organizations and the public for supporting this event year after year,” Hornsby said. “We all want to make the county a healthier community.”
Plan to attend the 26th Community Health Fair Family Fun Day, and watch the Record-Herald and Shopper’s Guide in the coming weeks for more information.
