COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) has invited legislative leaders to ride aboard his plane to the State of the State address in southeastern Ohio.

Senate Minority Leader Joe Schiavoni (shuh-VOHN’-ee) says it’s the first time Kasich, a Republican presidential candidate, has asked the Democratic leaders to join him. Schiavoni said Tuesday he’s accepted the invite and hopes to discuss issues important to his district and caucus.

Wednesday’s address is being held outside of Columbus for the fifth consecutive year. The Peoples Bank Theatre in Marietta is about 120 miles, or a two-hour drive, from the Statehouse.

Republican Senate President Keith Faber (FAY’-bur), of Celina, also accepted Kasich’s offer.

House Minority Leader Fred Strahorn (STRAY’-horn) of Dayton and Republican House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger of Clarksville declined, saying other travel arrangements were planned.
