A little over an hour after a Chillicothe woman suffered from a reported drug overdose on Monday at the Walmart store in Washington C.H., she was arrested at the local Walgreens store for disorderly conduct and drug abuse.

At 3:13 p.m. Monday, Fayette County EMS and an officer from the Washington C.H. Police Department were dispatched to Walmart, 1397 Leesburg Ave., for a reported overdose. According to police, Stephanie Jo Howard, 21, was transported by squad to the Fayette County Memorial Hospital emergency room.

A short time later police were dispatched to the emergency room because Howard “had become loud and was being disorderly,” the report said. When police arrived, Howard calmed down for a short time, but then reportedly started yelling and cursing while she was talking on the phone.

“I advised her to settle down or she would be arrested,” the officer wrote in his report.

After she was discharged from the hospital, she was again advised to lower her voice.

At 4:44 p.m., police were informed that Howard was now at the Walgreens store, 1240 Columbus Ave., causing a disturbance. She was reportedly cussing and yelling on her phone again.

“When I arrived at Walgreens the offender was outside and still yelling on the phone right in front of the doors, causing a scene,” the officer wrote in his report.

The officer placed Howard under arrest. After he began to place handcuffs on her, she allegedly tried to pull away. “After a very brief struggle, I cuffed and placed her in my patrol vehicle,” the officer wrote.

Howard was transported to the Fayette County Jail. She was allegedly found to be in possession of nine new syringes, prescription pills and a small baggie of marijuana.

Howard was charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of drug abuse.
