JD Equipment annexed to city

The Fayette County Commissioners recently approved the annexation of 24.42 acres of land – where JD Equipment is located – to the City of Washington Court House.

During the April 4 meeting of the commissioners, the three unanimously decided to approve of the resolution granting “expedited II annexation” to JD Capital Investments Inc. The original annexation file came on Feb. 17 to the commissioners requesting that the land be annexed into the city so the farm equipment dealership can take advantage of its resources.

JD Equipment is located at 1662 U.S. Route 62 in Washington C.H.

Commissioner Tony Anderson said that the process is essentially not up to them, as laws passed a few years ago from the state gives that power almost entirely to the land owner. The only other main stipulation is whether or not the land can be serviced by the government which controls it. In this case, the city is able to care for the services needed, the land owner wants to make the switch and the commissioners are on board as well.

“We like JD Equipment and are all behind them switching if that is what they want to do,” Anderson said recently. “Since the state legislation passed, this process can move a lot quicker. In the past, there have been issues around the state with this type of proceeding. Sometimes, either commissioners would sit on it or people would keep it from happening for next to no reason. The expedited annexation process allows the people who are involved to quickly make a decision and get things rolling.”

In other business, the commissioners authorized a transfer of a surplus Fayette County Sheriff’s Office vehicle to Quality Collision, in lieu of payment of storage fees. The vehicle, a black 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe, was unanimously approved to be declared surplus and transferred.

Additionally, the commissioners approved a termination of plumbing inspection services with the Clinton County Board of Health, effective April 1. It was then moved to enter into a contract with HCRF Inspection LLC for plumbing inspection services. The contract will last between April 1 and March 31, 2017.

Finally, the commissioners approved two improvements. The first was an acceptance of a proposal, from Cliff Lago, dba CDL Cabinet Design, to recondition the display case on the second floor of the Courthouse with a new base, new top header, new fabric and new lighting. The second was a contract with Anders Asphalt to clean and seal the parking lot at Main Street and South Fayette Street. Both motions were approved unanimously.
