A Washington C.H. man is facing a robbery charge after allegedly assaulting a man and stealing his bottle of whiskey.

On Saturday at around 4:42 p.m., Mark E. Rowland, 29, of 735 S. North St., was walking with a 27-year-old Washington C.H. man across the parking lot at 548 Clinton Ave. toward the Shell gas station. According to Washington C.H. police, Rowland allegedly assaulted the victim from behind by punching and kicking him to the ground.

Rowland then reportedly took the bottle of whiskey the victim had just purchased and ran from the scene toward Wendy’s. The offender was identified as Rowland and an arrest warrant was prepared.

On Sunday, police located Rowland at his residence, and he was arrested and taken to the Fayette County Jail.

An empty Jack Daniels whiskey bottle was recovered from a trash can at 222 Fairview Ave. at the time of Rowland’s arrest, according to police.
