Jeffersonville High School alumni to hold banquet

If you graduated from Jeffersonville High School, mark your calendars for June 4.

This date marks the 105th-annual gathering of Jeffersonville High School alumni and the banquet will be held at the Miami Trace Elementary School. If you are alumni and did not receive notification of the upcoming banquet, please contact Glenn Rankin at 740-505-9335 or at [email protected].

The original Jeffersonville High School was built in 1894, however, when the “new” school was built in 1924, the old school became the elementary school. Some may remember when the new school was built, a monument was erected in front memorializing three Jeffersonville graduates who died serving this country during World War II. They were Max L. Detty, Worley D. Flint and Everet W. Sharrett.

The first class to graduate from the old Jeffersonville High School was in 1889 and the last class to graduate from the new Jeffersonville High School was in 1962.

According to Glenn Rankin, “The alumni banquets started back in 1911 and we usually have 100 plus alumni and guests attend the banquet, but anyone is welcome to attend. Just let us know you are coming.”
