75 attend New Holland Alumni Banquet

The 126th New Holland Alumni Banquet was held June 4 at the New Holland Community Center with 75 in attendance.

All were welcomed by Ann Briggs Thompson, followed by the pledge of allegiance. A salute to our veterans and service men and women was given by Kay Bush Oughterson followed by the invocation. A wonderful pork loin dinner was served by members of the New Holland United Methodist Church. Georgia Clifton Shepard sang several beautiful songs during the dinner hour.

Butch Betzko, New Holland mayor, brought greetings from New Holland and updated all on what is going on in the village.

The roll call of classes from 1936 and current update of each class was given by Kay Oughterson with a slide presentation of each class picture, being shown by Chris Sprouse. All alumni present were given a book that listed all graduates from 1887-1961 and it gave information about each class.

A moment of remembrance of alumni members who had passed away since 2014 was given by Kay Oughterson. Chris Sprouse, Mark Shaw, and Arron Shipley, Jr. presented pictures and many items from the classes and alumni people also brought items to share with those present. Ann Thompson thanked everyone who helped in any way to make this a very special evening. Chris Sprouse gave floral arrangements to Delores Shipley, class of 1936, the oldest alumni present; Ann Thompson, chairman of the evening; and Kay Oughterson, program chairman.

Special thanks was given to the following: Mary Jane (Cherry ) Chrisman and Barbara (Longberry) Shaw for the beautiful red, white and blue floral arrangements throughout the room and to all who helped in anyway make this a very special evening.

The benediction was given by Kay Oughterson.
