Dragin’ Angels Car Club celebrates 59 years

The Dragin’ Angels Car Club celebrated its 59th anniversary on Sunday, June 11 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. The community was invited to visit and look at the many different old cars, trucks, vehicles and enjoy a hamburger or hot dog.

The club is centered on community programs and designed to donate scholarships for the Fayette County youth. This year scholarship awards were presented to the following youth: Hannah Adams, Kayla Mosley, Kala Perkins, Lindsy Aills, Erin Swartz, Sierra Crawford, Harrison Fallager, Jacob O’Deg and Alyssa Owings.

Following the scholarship awards and car show, the members visited several nursing homes. The residents enjoy seeing the old cars, and reminisce about ones they owned.

The club also donates Thanksgiving dinners to those in need, make sure children at the Homeless Shelter have a nice Christmas, donate to Shrine Burn Center, and Hospice of Fayette County.

Several members of the club participate in a “60’s Happy Days” at the Washington Middle School, invited by Lisa Hesson. The boys and girls dress in 50s clothes. The students and club members enjoy this event. There is also a historical day in Greenfield where several of our members take their cars for the elementary children to see.

Through the summer months we have several cruise-ins. The club is truly appreciative to the people who sponsor these events each year.
