‘Rolling Rimples’ winners announced

The Fayette County Health Department has announced the winners from the 18th program of Rolling Rimples.

Rolling Rimples is a four-month weight loss program for local businesses in our community. Once a month each person gets weighed, they receive a piece of fruit donated by Kroger which is greatly appreciated, and also get new healthy recipes and hints on how to lose weight. Two nurses go to each business once a month and tally their weights. Each business is broken up into teams of four or five people per team. At the end, the winners receive gift cards which are made possible through a United Way grant.

The first place individual winner this time goes to Sara Randolph from Miami Trace High School, losing 15.4 pounds and receiving a $100 gift card. She was also on the first place team with Laura Hottinger, Joanna Stitt and Andrea Johnson, all from Miami Trace High School and each receiving $50 gift card.

Second place individual was Terri Smith of Clerk of Courts, losing 13.6 pounds and receiving a $50 gift card. Third place individual was Veronica Cartmell from Fayette Progressive School, losing 13.2 pounds and receiving a $25 gift card.

Program 18 had 15 business, 24 teams and 112 individuals altogether participate.

We would like to congratulate all the winners and everyone who participated. Just being aware of our diets and watching what we eat is a huge step towards being healthy. There is the old saying that “our first wealth is health.” What we eat and put into our bodies every day does matter.

If anyone is interested in joining Rolling Rimples we will start a new program at the end of August this year, so please call Jeannie Bihl R.N. at 740-335-5910 at the health department to sign up.
