According to reports, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:

JULY 10

TRAFFIC CRASH – HIT SKIP: Deputies responded to a reported one vehicle crash on Allen Road. Upon arriving at the scene the driver had departed. It was determined that the vehicle was northbound on Allen Road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, it traveled off the right side of the roadway and upon returning to the roadway, over-corrected again, traveling off the right side of the roadway and into a corn field. The vehicle continued through the corn field and into the yard of Ron Kile where it struck a tree. The owner of the corn field is David Kile. The vehicle is owned by Linda Barton of Washington C.H. As of this time the driver remains unidentified.

FIRE: Earl Perry, Jeffersonville, reported a shed at his residence in West Lancaster caught fire. The Jefferson Township Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The shed was a total loss. The residence is owned by John Perry of Jeffersonville.

JULY 9

TRAFFIC CRASH: Crystal Lawler, of Marysville, reported she was southbound on Prairie Road when she failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of SR 734. Lawler’s vehicle struck another vehicle driven by Jessika Marcum of Bloomingburg, causing Marcum’s vehicle to travel off the roadway into a corn field where it overturned. Marcum was flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center and Lawler was transported to Fayette County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Lawler was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.

BURGLARY/THEFT/SAFE-CRACKING: Mitchell Adams, Hanoverton, reported his residence in Jeffersonville had been entered and property was removed.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Christopher Wrolostad of Cincinnati was traveling south on I-71 and struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported.

CRIMINAL DAMAGING: Howard Smith of Greenfield reported damage to a swimming pool located on his property.

THEFT: Brenda Wamsley of Washington C.H. reported while a known subject was removing property from her garage, a TV belonging to her was also taken.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Garrett Pfeifer of Washington C.H. was traveling south on Jamison Road and lost control of his vehicle. Pfeifer traveled off the left side of the roadway striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. Pfeifer was cited for failure to control and OVI.

ANIMALS NOT PERMITTED TO RUN: Carol Teets of Washington C.H. reported after the neighbor’s dogs departed their property, she was bitten by one of the dogs.

JULY 8

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Sheriff’s deputies responded to Kellough Road in reference to a location of a possible stolen vehicle. Deputies arrived on scene locating the stolen vehicle. A search of the area by officers was conducted and Ashley Kuhn was located and placed under arrest. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Charles Tackett, Jeffersonville, was backing up in his driveway and failed to notice another vehicle parked, unoccupied, behind him, striking the vehicle and damaging both. The other vehicle is owned by Susan Green, of Fairborn.

JULY 7

TRAFFIC CRASH: Dakota Davis of Jeffersonville was traveling north on Prairie Road and stopped at the intersection of SR 734. Davis proceeded to cross SR 734, failing to yield for a semi traveling west on SR 734, operated by Neil Boeckman of Celina, causing a collision. No injuries were reported. Davis’ vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. Davis was cited for failure to yield.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident that occurred on the parking lot of Flying-J. Reports indicated Steven Herren of Lennox, South Dakota, was attempting to back his semi-tractor trailer into a parking space and struck a parked semi-tractor trailer, operated by Michael Dunham of Cincinnati. No injuries were reported.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Sheriff’s deputies responded to a hit/skip accident that occurred on the parking lot of Love’s Truck Stop. Reports indicated an unknown semi-tractor trailer was attempting to back into a parking space and struck a parked semi-tractor trailer operated by Haozhu Wang of Babylon, New York. The unknown semi-tractor trailer then departed the area. No injuries were reported.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS: Sheriff’s deputies responded to a trespass complaint at Summer Tree Apartments. Upon arrival, deputies located a female in a vacant apartment. Amanda Chaffin of Jeffersonville was charged with criminal trespass.

JULY 6

CRIMINAL DAMAGE: Ivan Joseph of Washington C.H. reported former tenants of his property caused damage to a gun safe.

BURGLARY/CRIMINAL DAMAGING: Robert Langley of Washington C.H. reported that someone attempted to forcibly enter his residence, causing damage to a storm window frame.

BURGLARY/THEFT: Diane Amore of Washington C.H. reported that someone forced entry into her residence and removed property.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Sheriff’s deputies responded to a hit/skip accident that occurred on Jasper Coil Road in the township of Jasper. Reports indicate that the hit/skip vehicle was traveling southbound on Jasper Coil Road when the vehicle failed to observe an oncoming curve, the vehicle continued off the roadway and struck a road sign. The hit/skip vehicle then departed the scene of the crash.

JULY 5

TRAFFIC CRASH: Sheriff’s deputies responded to a hit/skip accident that occurred on SR 41 near Andrick Drive in the township of Union. Reports indicate that the hit/skip vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, striking a traffic control sign. The hit/skip vehicle then departed the scene of the crash.

FIRE: Bernard Drake, Roseville, reported while traveling on I-71 near the 63 mile marker he began smelling smoke in the vehicle. Upon pulling over and checking the engine compartment he found the vehicle was on fire. The Jefferson Township Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was a total loss.

CIVIL PROTECTION ORDER SERVICE: Deputies made service of a civil protection order to a respondent in a protection order by order of the court.

JULY 4

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Angela Messer of Jeffersonville reported while in a verbal argument with a known person, she was assaulted. Donald Russell of Jeffersonville was arrested and charged in the matter.

JULY 3

TRAFFIC CRASH: Curtis Rinehart of Reeseville was traveling south on Reid Road and lost control of his vehicle. Rinehart traveled off the right side of the roadway into the ditch. Rinehart continued in the ditch, striking a bridge embankment and overturning. Rinehart was extricated from the vehicle by the Jefferson Township Fire Department. Rinehart was transported by helicopter to a medical facility for treatment of injuries. The vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Kathleen Scheick of Dayton was traveling west on SR 435. Scheick stopped at the traffic signal at the intersection of I-71. Cory Windland of Canton, also traveling west on SR 435 behind Scheick, failed to stop at the traffic signal, striking the rear of Scheick’s vehicle. No injuries were reported. Windland was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

LOST PROPERTY: Fatima Vieira of Columbus reported after returning to her vehicle at Tanger Outlets, the temporary license plate was missing from her vehicle.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Brock Radcliff of Greenfield advised while he was at the Jeffersonville ballfield, he was struck by an unknown subject. Deputies made contact with the male subject, who was then cited for disorderly conduct.

JULY 2

THEFT: Employees of Tommy Hilfiger Outlet, Tanger Mall, reported an unknown person removed merchandise from the store without permission.

THEFT: Candy Beatty of Washington C.H. reported someone removed money from her vehicle.

THEFT: Ashley Goddard of Washington C.H. reported someone removed a bicycle from her yard.

THEFT: An employee of NIKE Outlet in Jeffersonville reported an unknown female concealed items of clothing and attempted to depart the store. After being confronted the female removed the items and fled the store.

MENACING: Samantha Gilpen of Washington C.H. reported she received a call from a blocked number from an unknown male who threatened her.

ASSAULT: Katie Rice, Leesburg, reported while at the residence of Rickey Kidder, Bloomingburg, they became involved in an argument and she reported she was physically assaulted by Kidder. Kidder was arrested and transported to the Fayette Co. Jail on this charge.

UNRULY JUVENILES: Deputies responded to the Ranch of Opportunity on a report of three female juveniles who fled the facility. The juveniles were subsequently located and returned to the facility.

JULY 1

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Amber Lowry, Bloomingburg, reported she was assaulted by her husband, David McKee, during a verbal argument. Signs of physical injury were observed on Amber Lowry. Mr. McKee was arrested in this incident and taken to the Fayette County Jail on the charge of domestic violence.
