Miami Trace High School is approaching its homecoming game with a full week of spirit for its students and the district is encouraging local residents to join in the festivities.

According to the district Facebook page, the Miami Trace homecoming bonfire and pep rally scheduled for Wednesday evening were cancelled due to potential weather conditions. Administrators were quick to remind the public of the district-wide pep rally set for this Friday. They continued to say that the high school and middle school will be participating in a pep rally at the high school at the end of the day.

Following that rally, the varsity football team, high school cheerleaders, marching band, and homecoming court and escorts will be rallying with the students at the elementary.

The pre-game with the homecoming attendants’ introduction will begin at 7 p.m followed by the game versus McClain High School that begins at 7:30. The district continues to encourage the community to come out and support the Miami Trace Panthers. Currently, weather.com is predicting an 80 percent chance for precipitation mostly in the morning with temperatures dipping to lows of about 50 degrees.

Daria Thomas was named the Miami Trace High School 2016 Homecoming Queen and Thomas Bondi was named the 2016 Homecoming King at last Friday’s crowning ceremony assembly in the high school auditorium. The full court includes freshmen – Abby Arledge and Kody Burns; sophomores – Abby Pettit and Coby Seyfang; and juniors – Gabby Sturgill and Logan Fleak and seniors Faith Holloway, Lexee Kersey, Kylie Reisinger, Lauren Truex, Ashton Cox, Lance Mick, Elijah Sauceda and Gabe Seyfang.

For spirit week, Miami Trace students have celebrated ‘Merica Monday, Tacky Tourist Tuesday and Twins Day Wednesday and will finish out the week with Tie Dye Thursday, and Fanny Pack Friday with Panther pride gear.

The homecoming dance is Saturday, Oct. 1 from 8-11 p.m with the theme “Rooftop Garden.” Tickets will be on sale for students during lunch periods all this week and cost $10 each.
