According to reports, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:

DEC. 6

TRAFFIC CRASH: Courtney Sollars from Mt. Sterling was traveling northbound on Danville Road near West Road when a deer entered the roadway. Sollars maneuvered her vehicle to avoid the deer and traveled off the right side of the roadway. Sollars over corrected and traveled off the left side of the roadway striking a ditch. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained moderate damage. Sollars was cited for Failure to Control.

DOG AT LARGE: Dustin Kinnison of Washington C.H. reported that his neighbor’s dog was running loose on his property. The owner returned the dog to their property.

DEC. 5

TRAFFIC CRASH: Jewell Thurman, Washington C.H. was southbound on S.R. 41, near Ghormley Road, when a deer entered her lane of travel and was subsequently struck. Thurman’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. The deer was located at the scene.

DEC. 4

DRUG ABUSE: A victim was taken to FCMH for an apparent drug overdose by a private vehicle.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Mason Lahna, London, was northbound on I-71, in the left lane and attempted to abruptly exit at S.R. 38. While changing lanes Lahna struck the rear of a semitractor trailer, driven by Robert Schweter, Meadville, Penn., that was also northbound in the right lane. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene. Lahna was cited for failure to maintain marked lane of travel.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Randolph Batty, Winchester, Ky. was attempting to back his semi-tractor trailer into a parking space at Love’s Truck Stop, when another truck passed in front of him and the trailer struck the cab of his truck. This other vehicle departed the scene. Batty followed the truck onto I-71 and was able to get the other driver to pull over at the 58 mm. The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Matthew Wofford, Dallas, Texas. Damage was noted to both vehicles. Wofford states he was unaware the his trailer had struck Batty’s truck.

ASSIST ANOTHER AGENCY: Deputies were contacted by the Wilmington Police Department requesting an attempt to locate a vehicle involved in a burglary in their jurisdiction. The vehicle and a suspect were located in the Village of Bloomingburg. The suspect, Paul Vansickle, was contacted at the residence and determined to be on probation. The Probation Dept. issued a hold on Vansickle and he was transported to the Fayette Co. Jail.

DRUG ABUSE/CASUALTY: Deputies and EMS responded to a report of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival they found a victim who appeared to be suffering from a heroin overdose. He was treated by EMS and transported to the Fayette Co. Memorial Hospital ER for treatment.

CASUALTY: Deputies responded to the area of S.R. 41 and Miami Trace Road on a report of an disabled vehicle. Upon arriving the deputies found that the driver, Charles Yount, age 87, of Dayton was disoriented and unable to provide any contact information for friends or family. Yount was subsequently transported to his residence in Dayton and his vehicle was secured.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Deputies responded to a reported two vehicle traffic crash with rollover on S.R. 753 at Rock Mills-Good Hope Road. Upon arriving at the scene deputies determined that a vehicle driven by Cynthia Grooms, Hillsboro, that was northbound on S.R. 753, had slowed/stopped in the roadway to make a left turn onto Rock Mills-Good Hope Road, when another vehicle driven by a 16-year-old female, attempted to pass this vehicle and several other vehicles that were stopped in the roadway. As the vehicle was passing, Grooms began her left turn and struck the passing vehicle, which traveled off the roadway. Upon steering back to the roadway the vehicle overturned and came to rest on the east side of the roadway. Neither driver reported any injuries. The juvenile was issued a citation for Improper Passing in an intersection.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Paul Moss, Washington C.H. was north bound on U.S. 62 driving a semi-tractor trailer. He states he began choking on a beverage and the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, through a harvested corn field, across a culvert, through two sections of farm fence and returned to the roadway. The fence belongs to Barry Powell, Washington C.H. Moss was cited for failure to control.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Charles Ely, Sabina, was southbound on Snow Hill Road, when a deer entered his lane of travel and was subsequently struck. The deer was located as the scene.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Jason Ludwick, Washington C.H., was northbound on S.R. 41 near the Flying J Truck stop when a semi-tractor trailer, driven by Jason Mast, Millersburg, pulled out of the truck stop and into his lane of travel. Ludwick subsequently struck the truck and sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene. Mast was cited for Failure to Yield upon entering roadway from a private drive.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Harrick Sheppard, Williamson, W. Va., who was driving a semi-tractor trailer, was attempting to make a U-Turn in front of the Jefferson Twp Fire Department. While backing up the trailer he struck a utility pole owned by Dayton Power and Light, causing damage to wires owned by AT&T telephone and Time Warner Cable. Sheppard was cited for failure to control.

DEC. 3

TRAFFIC CRASH: Paulette Justice of Washington C.H. was traveling southbound on Snow Hill Road near Miami Trace Road when Justice struck a deer in the roadway.

CRIMINAL DAMAGING/CRIMINAL TRESPASSING: Anna Everhart, Greenfield, reported person(s) unknown had entered her property and cut the plastic wrap on numerous round bales of hay.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Mark Taylor, Washington C.H., reported a domestic incident in which he was assaulted by live-in girlfriend and also that she damaged the residence. Angela Wynn, Washington C.H., was arrested in the incident. Upon further checking, it was learned that there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest for probation violation also. Wynn was transported to the Fayette Co. Jail.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Daniel Jack, Xenia, was eastbound on U.S. 35 crossing the bridge over I-71 when he lost control of the vehicle on the ice covered roadway. Jack’s vehicle struck both sides of the bridge rail and sustained heavy damage and was subsequently towed from the scene.

DEC. 2

CRIMINAL TRESPASS: Reid Van Kirk of Washington C.H. reported a known male was at his residence and refused to leave.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Kassi Proctor of Huber Heights was traveling westbound on Upper Jamestown Road when Proctor traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Minor injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained moderate damage. Proctor was cited for failure to control.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE: Adam Vanslyke reported that person(s) unknown removed his vehicle from his residence without permission. The vehicle was located near the intersection of Route 22 and Route 753.

DEC. 1

THEFT: Jamie Therrien of Jeffersonville reported than a known male removed property from her residence.

CRIMINAL DAMAGING: Robert Smith of Jeffersonville reported unknown(s) damaged his property.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Victor West was traveling south bound on U.S. Route 62 when he traveled off the right side of the roadway entering the ditch. West attempted to steer back into the roadway lost control of the semi sliding sideways on the roadway, crossing the centerline, and traveling off the left side of the roadway where the semi overturned, spilling the load on the roadway. Bloomingburg fire department, ODOT, Sheriff’s emergency response team, and the Fayette county EMS all responded to the scene. West was treated at the scene and released by the Fayette county EMS. West was cited for failure to control.

TRAFFIC CRASH/HIT SKIP: Employees of Doug Marine Motors reported person(s) unknown backed into a vehicle parked on the west end of their parking lot. Damage was sustained to the right side of this vehicle. The other vehicle departed the scene and did not notify anyone of the accident.

THEFT: Joyce Southworth of Washington C.H. reported that an person unknown removed a laptop from her residence.

TRAFFIC CRASH: Ryan Moss of Chillicothe was traveling southbound in the 2000 block of Miami Trace Road when a vehicle driven by Chad Hastings of Sabina was traveling northbound and crossed over the center line. Hasting sideswiped Moss’s vehicle. No injuries were reported. The vehicles sustained minor damage. Hastings was cited for Left of Center.

CRIMINAL DAMAGING: Jaynle Jones of Washington C.H. reported that person(s) unknown threw a brick at her garage window.

THEFT/CRIMINAL SIMULATION: Deputies received a complaint of a shoplifting at Tanger Mall. Upon the completion of their investigation it was determined that multiple stores had items stolen and the suspects used counterfeit bills to pay for some items.
