The 2015 father/child banquet of the South Side Church of Christ was held the last Saturday evening in September with several in attendance.

The women’s fellowship of the church has worked hard the past two years to get this event going strong again. The attendance is still growing and the fellowship has been great. Thank God and all who help with cooking, decorating, setting up tables, chairs, serving each meal and then the clean up.

The meal consisted of baked baby back pork ribs, scallop potatoes, cole slaw, rolls/butter, a variety of drinks and white cake with white frosting. We also had hot dogs for those who did not eat pork.

After everyone was seated and served, Becky Crouch gave the welcome and prayer for the food. The food and fellowship was great. Each person was given a blue cup with South Side Church of Christ Father/Child Banquet 2015 and a cross all written in white. They also received a blue ink pen with South Side Church of Christ Women’s Fellowship.

More fun and fellowship to follow: for the program we invited the Ikimonm Christian Martial Arts group to come. They really put on a good program. At first they opened with prayer, introduced themselves and then the fun began. They did some demonstrating which looked a little dangerous. They then invited several to join them. Now, all the fathers and children of South Side know the art of self defense (just a joke). This was a very good group to have for this event. They opened and closed with prayer.

Our scripture for the evening was Ephesians 6:4: “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
