Grace United Methodist Women hold meeting

The Grace Methodist Women (UMW) officers met on Feb. 3, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Commission on Aging on Elm Street in Washington C.H. for the first executive meeting of the new year. The agenda for the 2016 year was discussed. At 11:30 a.m. the entire UMW ladies attending for the day ate lunch together and then progressed to the regular business meeting.

President Karen Bernard called the business meeting to order by having all those present read aloud the purpose of the UMW. Robin Dolphin gave the Prayer & Self Denial devotion by reading from the book of Jeremiah. She then read an article about community and asked all to pray for our community around us each day.

Secretary Sandy Flach read the minutes from the meeting in December 2015 and correspondence received since the last meeting. The minutes were approved as read.

Treasurer Brenda Warner handed out copies of the current treasurer’s report and explained each entry. The report was approved as read.

Committee reports:

Lenten Luncheons plans are all in place and the luncheons will begin Feb. 11, 2016 at 12 p.m. in the Grace United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Pat Gall reported that all reading lists of UMW books are due by Feb. 15 when she has to send her report for the year to the Shawnee Valley District UMW.

New Business:

UMW 2016 program booklets and schedule were handed out to each circle leader and to the UMW members attending the meeting. The booklets were explained in detail by President Karen.

Robin Dolphin reported that the diaper table has been purchased by the UMW and installed in the left bathroom in the church fellowship hall.

The next business meeting of the UMW will be a carry-in meal June 8, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Hostesses will be Deborah Circle who will set-up tables, provide meat dishes and drinks.

The meeting was then adjourned by President Karen.
