WMS 7th grade girls beat Greenfield, improve to 11-0
The Washington Lady Lion 7th grade basketball team rolled past Greenfield, 42-13 as they played their final home game of the season on Jan. 30.
Not only did the Lady Lions improve to 11-0, they also clinched the outright SCOL title with one game to left in the regular season as they travel to Miami Trace on Monday, Feb. 3.
The Lady Tigers scored first with a free-throw as the Lady Lions scored 10 unanswered points to end the first quarter. Washington outscored Greenfield by four in the second period to end the first half leading by 13.
Coach Todd Wallace challenged the Lady Lions during halftime to “play their game” and pick up the defensive intensity they lacked in the first half. The team responded by pouring in 21 points and holding Greenfield to a single point in the third quarter. The Lady Tigers outscored their host by four points to end the game.
Hannah Haithcock’s 11 points and Maddy Jenkins’ 10 were responsible for half of Washington’s total.
Raven Haithcock and Taylor Smith added six points each, followed by Tabby Woods’ four, Kassidy Hines with 3, and Bre Taylor chipped in two points.
