A time for reflection and appreciation

0

This Thanksgiving week, I would like to take a moment to reflect on all we have to be thankful for in this great state.

As I approach the final months of my first term as Speaker of the Ohio House, I certainly feel a more overwhelming sense of gratitude than usual for this time of year. Taking on such a leadership role over the past two years has taught me more than I ever imagined, and it has been a pleasure serving you all as your state representative. Therefore, I wanted to show my appreciation to all those who have given so much to me.

First and foremost, I am thankful for my family and my closest friends. You have each supported me in unique ways, and it is because of your encouragement that I have been able to serve in this role. From supporting me as a state representative to joining me in the Ohio Statehouse as I was sworn in as Speaker, you have been there for the big moments and the small. Your advice and guidance is more than appreciated.

I wouldn’t be able to do my job or take part in the positive changes we have made for Ohio if it weren’t for my staff and my fellow members in the Ohio House, those I call my Ohio House family. As I have put in countless of hours and miles traveling the state and hearing from all Ohioans about their needs and concerns, my staff has been in the background ensuring the work that needs done legislatively and to operate my office is accomplished effectively and efficiently. The relationships I have been fortunate enough to cultivate with my colleagues and my staff have become one of the most enriching parts of my life.

Of course, none of this would be possible if it weren’t for the constituents of the 91st House District. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for putting your faith in me from the beginning and entrusting me to be your state representative. I feel blessed to take my voice to Columbus and work for the people of the place I call home. There is nothing that is quite as fulfilling as the chance to advocate for the needs and desires of the region that molded me into the person I am today.

As always, I would be remiss to forget about my continual gratitude for those who take on the call to serve our country and state. It is because of those in every branch of the military, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and first responders that we have the freedom and the safety to make our voices heard and vote according to our beliefs and principles. Thank you for sacrificing so much to protect the ideals of this nation.

Thanksgiving is a time for selflessness, for giving, and for appreciating all that you have. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as Speaker in the Ohio House, and I want to thank every person who has helped me along the way. From my family to yours, I hope you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving,
