Blue Lion wrestlers beat Wil., EC

The Washington Blue Lion wrestling team visited Wilmington High School Thursday night for an SCOL tri-match with the Hurricane and East Clinton.

Washington defeated East Clinton, 45-21 and took a close win over Wilmington, 39-36.

Washington completes the final season of wrestling in the SCOL with a league dual meet record of 5-2.

Washington senior Tre Thomas had two wins, both coming by the coveted pin, over Matt Horn of East Clinton (the time was not available) and Mason Snyder of Wilmington in 1:08.

The Blue Lions’ Zane Nelson had a pair of pins at 145 pounds, against Brandon Wheeler of East Clinton and Donald Crawford of Wilmington in 42 seconds.

Senior Trevor Hicks at 285 pinned Wilmington’s Conner Barton in 2:56. Hicks picked up a forfeit against East Clinton.

At 152 pounds, junior Chris Conger had a 5-2 decision over Noah Morgan of East Clinton. His match against Wilmington was a forfeit win.

Washington’s Josh Waters had a high-scoring match against Noah Stirr of Wilmington, winning 17-12.
