In the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams, the Washington Lady Blue Lion tennis team defeated the Lady Panthers of Miami Trace, 3-2 on Thursday.

The match was played on Miami Trace’s home courts at the Club at Quail Run.

At first singles, Megan Downing beat Bethany Reiterman in a three-hour match, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

“What great tennis those two girls played,” Miami Trace head coach Kim Schirtzinger said.

At second singles, Anna Nestor beat Haylee Higgins, 6-3, 6-0.

Whitney Cockerill defeated Yui Kobayshi at third singles, 6-0, 6-2.

Maria Pickerill and Sierra Dawson beat Maddi Wallace and Cassie VanDyke, 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles.

At second doubles, Shelby Mulford and Macy Detty beat Jen Richards and Mackenzie Cress, 6-1 ,6-1.

Next up for both teams is the Division II Sectional tournament to be held Tuesday and Wednesday at Portsmouth High School.
