The Miami Trace tennis team began the week of April 18 with a home match against East Clinton.
The Astros won the match, three courts to two.
At first singles, Miami Trace’s Seth Leach lost to Paul Luttrell, 4-6, 5-7.
“It was a hard-fought and great match, neck and neck the entire time,” Panthers head coach Mitch Augenstine said.
At second singles, Matt Fender lost to Luke Meares, 1-6, 1-6.
At third singles, Ely Schirtziner beat Alex Pence, 6-3, 6-0.
The teams split play in doubles.
Miami Trace’s Adam Ginn and Johnathan Allen won at first doubles 6-2, 6-0 against Blake Bronson and Jaren Evons.
This was a dominating performance by the two Miami Trace sophomores, according to Augenstein.
At second doubles, Riley Evans and Todd Peterson lost to Travis Knell and Elijah Howard, 3-6, 3-6.
The Panthers had an inter-squad match between Drew Stanforth and Elijah Campbell. Stanforth won, 8-6 in a proset.

The Panthers recorded their first SCOL win of the season over Hillsboro on April 19, 4-1.
Seth Leach beat Chase Colliver at first singles, 6-1, 6-0.
At second singles, Matt Fender defeated Spencer Brown, 6-2, 6-0.
At third singles, Ely Schirtziner lost to Daniel Jackey, 2-6, 4-6.
The Panthers swept the two doubles matches.
At first doubles, Adam Ginn and Johnathan Allen beat Christen Green and Dawson Carter, 6-2, 6-0.
At second doubles, Riley Evans and Todd Peterson won a three-set match against Austin Bumgarner and Rory Foley, 5-7, 6-1 and 6-4.
In a j-v match, Miami Trace’s Coby Seyfang and Drew Stanforth beat Austin Pendale and Camryn Green in a proset, 8-5.

The Panthers suffered their first 0-5 loss of the season Wednesday, April 20 to Wilmington.
At first singles, Seth Leach lost to M. Keiter, 0-6, 1-6.
At second singles, Matt Fender lost to J. Fender, 1-6, 0-6.
On the third singles court, Ely Schirtzinger lost to A. Embree, 3-6, 1-6.
At first doubles, Adam Ginn and Johnathan Allen lost to D. Moyer and B. Henry, 3-6, 1-6.
Riley Evans and Todd Peterson lost to J. Douglas and J. Romer, 1-6, 5-7.
Miami Trace’s j-v won three of five matches against Wilmington.
Drew Stanforth lost to Daniel Andres, 1-6.
Elijah Campbell beat Dylan Combs, 6-4 and also beat Konstantin Buettuer, 6-1.
Coby Seyfang defeated Nigel Bauls, 6-0 and lost to Harrison Levi. 6-7 (6-8).
