Miami Trace improves to 8-2 in the SCOL, 11-7 overall.

The Lady Panthers are in second place behind unbeaten Clinton-Massie.

“Our defense played great tonight,” Miami Trace head coach Terry Smith said. “We had no errors. Megan Self had a tremendous game. She made a diving catch in the outfield to save the game. She also threw a girl out at home to save a run.”

Self went 3 for 4 at the plate, with two runs scored. One of her hits was a double.

Olivia Wolffe was the winning pitcher for Miami Trace. She pitched all eight innings. She gave up eight hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts and two walks.

Hannah Breeden pitched for Hillsboro and took the loss. She pitched 7.2 innings with four runs on 11 hits. She struck out 10 and did not issue a walk. Only two of the four Miami Trace runs were earned.

“The defense was really the key to the game,” Smith said. “Hillsboro committed a couple of errors at the wrong time. But, we just played a tremendous game. It was a well-pitched game by Olivia.”
