The Miami Trace Panthers and Washington Blue Lions took part in the McClain golf invitational Friday at Buckeye Hills.
It was the first event of the 2016-17 high school sports season.
The Panthers placed second with a team score of 344.
“I was very happy with that result,” Miami Trace head coach Kyle McConnaughey said.
Adena won the meet with a team total of 321.
For the Panthers, senior Mitchell Creamer led the way with a 78.
Senior Ashton Cox shot an 86.
Sophomore Tyler Eggleton had a score of 88; senior Jacob Batson, 92; junior Cameron Carter, 96 and sophomore Hayden Walters, 115.
The medalist, a competitor from Adena, shot a 77.
Washington Blue Lion scores were not available Friday.
The Panthers and Blue Lions begin SCOL play in this, the final year of the league, in a quad match Monday at 4 p.m. at Snow Hill Country Club, along with McClain and host Wilmington.
