Lady Lion tennis blanks Massie

The Washington Lady Blue Lion tennis team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 5-0 win over Clinton-Massie Wednesday at Gardner Park.

At first singles, sophomore Megan Downing defeated sophomore Hailey Clayborn, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.

Senior Anna Nestor beat junior Anne Thompson at second singles, 6-3, 6-1.

Freshman Sydnie Hall topped senior Morgan Edgar, 6-0, 7-6 (8-6).

Senior Sierra Dawson and junior Maria Pickerill beat a pair of juniors, Claire Corruthers and Hailey Stinchcomb, 6-0, 6-2.

Junior Mackenzie Cress and senior Gretchen Milstead defeated junior Megan Wonderly and senior Amber Winemiller, 6-2, 6-4.

Washington freshman Brynne Frederick played an 8-game pro set against Hailey Stinchcomb and fell, 7-9.

Washington plays at Logan Elm Saturday and at Unioto Monday.
