CHILLICOTHE — The Washington boys soccer team lost its season opener 3-0 at Chillicothe Friday evening, Aug. 19.

Washington entered the game with hopes of upsetting the league favorite, and the Lions put up a good fight, according to head coach Aaron Teter.

Down 1-0 late in the second half, Washington junior Jack Luebbe just missed potential game tying shots twice.

In the end, Chillicothe’s defense was too strong, and two late goals sealed the game for the Cavs.

Brian Wilson stood out in goal for Washington with 16 saves, and Kenny Upthegrove was a strength on defense, Teter noted.

Washington will host Leesburg Fairfield Tuesday at 5 p.m.
