EC tennis spoils new courts opener for MT

The Miami Trace Lady Panthers hosted the first match on the school’s new tennis courts Wednesday, Aug. 24.

East Clinton was the opponent and the Astros won this SCOL event, 3-2.

Miami Trace’s Macy Detty lost to Kylee Hidy, 2-6 3-6 at first singles.

Cassie VanDyke beat EC’s Sydney Michael at second singles, 6-2, 7-6, winning the second set tiebreaker, 7-5.

MT’s Bayley Thompson defeated Cassidy Parks, 6-3, 6-4 at third singles.

Anita Pursell and Jackie Wisecup had a good match against Hannah Pickering and Shelby Michael, according to coach Kim Schirtzinger, but couldn’t get the win, 4-6, 4-6.

Haiven Pepper and Cameron Bucher lost to Bella Walters and Haley Harrell, 2-6, 3-6.

In j-v play, Miami Trace’s Beth Hogsett fell to Emily Tong in an 8-game pro set, 2-8.

Miami Trace’s Kyleigh Slone and Kenzie Seyfang lost to Hanne Rinested and Cassidy Park, 3-6.

The Lady Panthers’ next match is at home Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 4:30 p.m. against Hillsboro.
