Blue Lion soccer completes season sweep of Massie Falcons

The Washington Blue Lion boys soccer team completed the season sweep of the Clinton-Massie Falcons with a 4-1 victory in Clarksville Thursday, Sept. 15.

First half goals by Seth Hanusik (assist to Blaise Tayese), Grant Kuhlwein (unassisted), and again Hanusik (Tayese) gave Washington a 3-0 lead.

Jack Luebbe put the Lions up by four goals in the second half before Massie spoiled the shutout with a goal finishing a corner kick.

“Our passing was a little better tonight,” Washington head coach Aaron Teter said. “Midfielders Jordan Behm, Jack Luebbe, Max Schroeder, and Nate Horton moved the ball quickly in transition and it paid off in goals.”

The Blue Lions stand third in the SCOL at 4-3-0.

Wilmington is 7-0-0 and Chillicothe is 5-1-0.

Miami Trace is 2-3-1 in fourth, followed by McClain at 2-5-0, Massie at 1-5-1 and Hillsboro at 0-4-0.

Washington looks to continue improving with home games Saturday and Tuesday. Saturday, Washington hosts London in a non-league contest (girls 10 a.m. and boys at noon).

Tuesday Chillicothe visits the Lions (girls at 5 p.m. and boys to follow).
