Miami Trace girls soccer falls 3-0 at Hillsboro

HILLSBORO — The Miami Trace girls soccer team made the trip down US 62 to play the Hillsboro Lady Lions Thursday evening in an SCOL match.

Hillsboro came away with a 3-0 win.

The match was played under rainy conditions making for a slippery field.

The Miami Trace girls continued to play good soccer, trailing as they did 1-0 at the half.

The action was halted for lightning with 33 minutes to play in the game.

It remained a 1-0 game until the final eight minutes, when Hillsboro put two goals on the board for the 3-0 final.

Taylor Barrett had 21 saves in goal for Miami Trace.

“Hillsboro is a tough opponent, and they were able to control the ball well, even in the wet conditions,” Miami Trace head coach Caitlin Francis said. “We played hard but couldn’t slip past their defense to get many shots off.”

Miami Trace is now 3-10 overall, 3-6 in the SCOL.

The Lady Panthers host Clinton-Massie Tuesday at 5 p.m.

MT boys beat Indians

Also Thursday, the Panthers’ boys soccer team defeated Hillsboro, 2-0.

Miami Trace is now 4-4-1 in the SCOL. The Panthers host Clinton-Massie Tuesday at 7 p.m.
