Miami Trace golf team qualifies to District

The Miami Trace boys golf team qualified for the Division I Districts after finishing fourth at the Sectional at Hocking Hills Monday, Oct. 3, with a team score of 361. This is the third time a Miami Trace boys golf team has qualified to the Districts since 1999.

Mitchell Creamer led the Panthers with a score of 88.

Ashton Cox shot a 90, Jacob Batson, 91, Tyler Eggleton, 92 and Hayden Walters, 98.

Warren won the Division I Sectional with a team score of 306. Senior Max Hapney of Warren was the Sectional medalist with a 72.

Jackson was second with a 335 and Marietta also advanced to the District tournament, placing third with a 349 score.

Hillsboro was fifth with a 379, Athens placed sixth with a 384, Logan was seventh at 387 and Chillicothe was eighth with a 420.

Drew Zorn of Athens (81), Dorian Poling of Logan (86), Cameron Reed of Hillsboro (90) and Nick Haller of Chillicothe (90) qualified as individuals to the District tournament.

The Panthers will compete in the Division I District tournament at Eaglesticks Golf Club in Zanesville Wednesday, Oct. 12.

The top team and the top individual not on that team will advance to the State tournament.
