Chillicothe defeats Washington in three sets

The Washington Lady Lions (1-4, 0-1) hosted the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers (1-4, 0-1) on Thursday, Aug. 31 in a Frontier Athletic Conference volleyball contest. Both teams were looking for their first FAC win of the season as both came into the evening with 0-1 records in league play.

Washington fell to Hillsboro in three sets on Tuesday and Chillicothe fell to Miami Trace in four sets, also on Tuesday.

The Lady Lions would fall to the Lady Cavaliers in three sets on Thursday, 25-23, 25-10, and 25-16.

Statistically for Washington, Jarika Mick led with two aces, followed by Maggi Wall, Calleigh Wead-Salmi, and Kierstyn Mitchell with one.

Wead-Salmi led with five kills, followed by Mick with four, Natalie Truex with three, and Aysha Haney, Peyton Hughes, and Mitchell with one.

Haney led with eight set assists, followed by Wall with two, and Hughes and Mick with one.

Wead-Salmi had the lone solo block for Washington.

Wall led in digs with 11, followed by Haney, Mitchell, and Mick with five, Wead-Salmi and Addison Shiltz with two, and Truex and Addison Knisley with one.

In the j-v contest, Washington fell 25-18 and 25-6.

In the freshman contest, Washington won in two sets, 25-23 and 25-19.

Washington (1-5, 0-2) is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at East Clinton.

Chillicothe (2-4, 1-1) plays next on Saturday, Sept. 2 when they take on Marietta at 10 a.m.
