The Miami Trace Panthers hosted the Jackson Ironmen on Thursday, Sept. 14 in a Frontier Athletic Conference soccer doubleheader.

The first match featured the Panther boys (4-4-1, 1-1-1) and the Ironmen (5-2-1, 2-0).

The Panthers found themselves in an early 3-0 hole against the Ironmen midway through the first half.

Miami Trace would get on the board at the 10:12 mark of the first half when Landon Burns kicked a ball from near midfield precisely to Pierce McCarty who would score on a header to make it 3-1 in favor of Jackson.

Neither team would score throughout the final 10 minutes, keeping the score the same at the half.

The score would remain unchanged for nearly half of the second half before the Ironmen knocked one into the back of the net to extend the lead to 4-1.

Just a couple minutes later, Jackson would score from a header off of a corner kick to make it 5-1.

The final goal of the match came with 17:54 remaining when the Ironmen scored on a penalty kick, giving them a 6-1 road victory over the Panthers.

The next match was between the Lady Panthers (3-4-1, 0-2-1) and the Ironladies (6-1-1, 3-0).

The game remained scoreless for over 10 minutes to start the contest, before Lady Panther Marian Mara kicked a ball that an Ironlady defender attempted to deflect but kicked it into her own goal, giving Miami Trace a 1-0 lead.

Over the next 28 minutes, both teams threatened to score but neither could succeed, leaving the score unchanged at the half.

The second half was very intense and physical, with both teams desperately trying to add a goal to the scoreboard.

The score remained 1-0 for over 25 minutes of the second half, until the Lady Panthers tried to kick the ball away from their own goal and the ball ricocheted off of a Jackson player and went into the Miami Trace goal, tying the contest.

Over the final 14 minutes of the game, both teams traded shots at goal but ultimately no one was able to score, ending the contest in a 1-1 tie.
