FAYETTE COUNTY — Meteorologists are reporting that a winter storm is expected to hit this weekend, potentially bringing snow, ice, and rain to Fayette County.
The chance of snowfall is at its highest on Saturday morning, according to weather.com, as there will be a 51% chance of snow showers at 6 a.m., 76% chance at 7 a.m., 89% chance at 8 a.m., and 90% chance at 9 a.m.
It is predicted to drop below a 50% chance of snowfall around noon on Saturday. Total accumulation projected is between one and three inches.
The high for Saturday is 35-degrees and the low is 31-degrees, so this could lead to more freezing rain than snow for the county.
Calm winds are expected for Saturday to go with the expected snow, but those winds should pick up on Sunday, increasing from five miles-per-hour to 15 miles-per-hour, according to weather.com.
