The Washington Blue Lion varsity wrestling team hosted their annual bracket tournament on Saturday, with a total of 16 teams participating. Three teams withdrew from the tournament due to weather conditions.
Washington finished in third place as a team with 172 points. A total of 13 Blue Lions placed at the event, with three runner-up, three third place, two fourth-place, and five fifth-place finishers.
Centerville was the team champion again after winning the event a season ago. The Elks scored 256.5 points. Little Miami was the runner-up with 192.5 points.
Also competing in the event was Waynesville, Campbell County (KY), Piqua, Clairmont Northeastern, Fairland, Waverly, Bethel-Tate, Alexander, Paint Valley, West Union, Stivers, North College Hill, and Piketon.
Individual placers for Washington:
At 106 pounds, Nathan Snyder placed fourth. Snyder went 0-2 Saturday.
At 113 pounds, Bradley Forsythe placed fourth and Jude Worth placed fifth. Forsythe finished 1-2 and Worth went 0-2.
At 120 pounds, Talon Freese placed second. Freese went 1-1 on Saturday.
At 126 pounds, Casen Snyder placed fifth. Snyder finished 2-2 on Saturday.
At 138 pounds, Jared Rivera placed fifth. Rivera went 3-2 on Saturday.
At 150 pounds, Malachi McCullough placed third. McCullough finished 3-1 on Saturday.
At 157 pounds, Tristan Vires placed third. Vires went 3-1 on Saturday.
At 165 pounds, Mack Parsley placed second. Parsley went 2-1 on Saturday.
At 175 pounds, Brendan Peters placed fifth. Peters went 4-2 on Saturday.
At 190 pounds, Cameron Jones placed fifth. Jones went 3-2 on Saturday.
At 285 pounds, Jake Bashor placed second and Brady Rohrer placed third. Bashor went 3-1 and Rohrer went 5-1 on Saturday.
The Blue Lions will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 27 at New Lexington High School.
