MT bowling falls to Blue Lions, take 1st in MLK Jr. tournament

Miami Trace seniors Jake Manbevers and Onesti Evans both placed first at the Lynchburg-Clay Martin Luther King Jr. tournament held in Hillsboro Monday, Jan. 15, 2024.

On Thursday, Jan. 11, the Miami Trace boys bowled the Washington Blue Lions.

Miami Trace was led by Cole Whiteside with games of 280 and 197; Jonah Goddard with 243 and 214; Jake Manbevers with 234 and 236; and Bryce Stuckey with 214.

It was a good effort by the Panthers, coach Ron Amore Sr. said. They fell to the Blue Lions by 61 pins. This was the first time the Blue Lions have defeated the Panthers in seven years. It was very good bowling by both teams.

On Monday, Jan.15, Miami Trace Panthers traveled to Hillsboro to compete in the Lynchburg-Clay Martin Luther King Jr tournament.

The Panthers were led by Jake Manbevers with scores of 247, 211 and 277 to be the top bowler on the First Team all tournament team.

Also, bowling very well were Austin Campbell with 256; Jonah Goddard with 245, 183 and 178; Bryce Stuckey with 207, 181 and 216; Cole Whiteside with 184 and 153; also helping the Panthers take the 1st place championship trophy was Hunter Tanner with 213; also helping were Kaden Noble and Robbie Bennett making a great team effort.

The top girl on the all-tournament team went to Onesti Evans of Miami Trace, taking first place.
