Lady Lions fall to Huntington in three sets

The Washington Lady Lions looked to rebound from a season-opening loss as they hosted Huntington on Tuesday, Aug. 20 in a non conference volleyball match.

The first match of the evening was the j-v contest, in which Washington fell 2-1 in three sets. The Lady Lions won the opening set 25-22, but would drop the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-17.

In the varsity contest, Washington was defeated in straight sets: 25-18, 25-15 and 25-17.

Statistically for the Lady Lions, Maggi Wall had the lone ace for the team.

Jarika Mick and Scotti Quigley each led in kills with three, followed by Ava Hines and Alora Self with two and Aysha Haney and Peyton Hughes with one each.

Haney led in set assists with seven, followed by Anna Tackage with four.

Quigley and Hughes each had a solo block for Washington.

Wall led in digs with 15, followed by Tackage and Self each with eight, Mick with seven, Haney with five and Maggie Pfeifer with one.

Washington (0-2) will look to earn their first win of the season on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Fairfield Union.
