Carnegie Public Library has lots of fun activities coming up this fall! On the first Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. is Crafternoon! Bring your own craft project to work on while mingling with other local crafters! Some craft supplies, including our sewing machine, will be available for use during Crafternoon.

On the second Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. is Bring Your Own Book Club! Always wanted to join a book club but couldn’t commit or tired of assigned reads? This casual book club is for you! This is a book club with a twist, readers are invited to discuss books, old and new, and share recommendations. Unlike most book clubs where everyone reads the same thing, at BYOB you pick the titles you want to read.

On the third Saturday, we have Crochet at 11 a.m. Beginner and experienced crocheters are welcome to bring the projects they’re working on, to come and learn to crochet, or to share their techniques with others.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m., join us for Yoga in the Garden! Librarian and certified yoga instructor Averie will teach you yoga poses you can easily reproduce at home. Bring water and wear comfortable clothing. In the event of rain, we will move our practice inside. On Monday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. is Phone Clinic! Bring your devices—smartphones, tablets, and laptops—and get personalized assistance. Whether you need help with library apps, troubleshooting issues, or learning basic functions, we’re here to guide you through.

Tristen from Senior Life Solutions will host a Round Table Talk on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. about suicide awareness and prevention for older adults. We will discuss how suicide and mental health impacts older adults in rural areas, as well as provide community support resources within Fayette and surrounding counties.

New program alert! Only Murders in the Library, a true crime podcast discussion group, will meet on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 12 p.m. Join fellow podcast enthusiasts at the library once a month to discuss the genre as we make our way through different shows. Like a book club but for podcasts, you’ll listen to the assigned episodes for the month at home and then meet at the library to discuss the crime, the podcast, and everything in-between. For our inaugural meeting, we’ll be listening to Paper Ghosts: Season Two, a podcast about a 43-year-old Ohio cold case hosted by M. William Phelps for iHeartMedia. You can listen to the podcast on Spotify, Apple podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

September is Library Card Sign Up Month, if you don’t have a library card yet- now is the perfect time!

Coming up, the library will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2 for Labor Day.

As always, unless noted, all library programs are free.

24/7 Pick-Up Lockers, library book return, and our online resources are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Information about all of our resources can be found on the library’s website, www.cplwcho.org, or by calling the library at 740-335-2540. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram @cplwcho.
